I knew for a fact that San Francisco wouldn't disappoint on the stationery front, so why didn't I take a larger suitcase?! Here's a snap of my booty in all its glory:
San Fran has so many fab stationery/gifty/crafty shops to offer, it leads me to believe it must be a city full of wonderful creative people.
If you're headed there soon, go to Alcatraz, climb the Coit Tower, then hit the shops...
When in San Fran...buy rainbow washi tape! Found these tiny little animals everywhere, but got these along with the tape at Lola Card Stop. What a wonderful shop for cards and gifts.
My sea otter friend (or "odder" as our American friends would say) came from down the road in Monterey. Isn't he adorable!
Went a bit washi crazy. I was a bit distressed to find the washi rather hidden in Paper Source, but it was such an amazing shop I can't grumble. It's so big....they had to kick me out eventually so they could go home.
Top Drawer had loads of wonderful things on offer, not sure why I only came away with this brush point pen and a pair of Japanese slippers, but I did. The pen will be magical though, and will make my brush lettering go from very crap to perfection, I'm certain of it.
Otter pencil from Monterey - I should give this to a child, but I won't.
Cute cards EVERYWHERE! Best selection was at Union St Papery PLUS they had a sale on!
My favourite shop for stationery AND art/craft supplies - probably my favourite shop in the US after Fishs Eddy - is Mendel's on Haight St. Go there and just try not feeling creative! It's not possible!
Give us a shout if you have any recommendations for our next trip (!), or indeed if you're going to California any time soon and want suggestions!
